Salsa Group Lessons

July 31 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Salsa Group Lessons in Naples, Florida

Affordable Classes: Hello everyone! For a limited time, group classes are just $10.

Class Schedule: I hold a salsa group class at 8:30.

No Partner Required You don’t need a partner.

Beginner-Friendly Environment: Group classes are not only a fun way to strengthen your skills, but they also cater to both beginners and experienced dancers. Moreover, a salsa group class creates a friendly environment where you can learn the basics of salsa dancing alongside others.

⚙️ How It Works

  • No Partner Needed: In fact, most people come alone. You will change partners during the class, allowing you to practice with different dancers.
  • Casual Dress Code: Therefore, wear comfy clothes and flat shoes or sneakers that enable smooth movement.
  • Class Structure: To begin with, the class starts with a warm-up, transitions to solo footwork, and concludes with partner dancing.

📋 Class Routine

  • Warm-up: First, you will move to the music to prepare your body.
  • Shines: Next, you will practice basic steps by yourself in front of a mirror.
  • Partnerwork: Thereafter, you will pair up to learn how to lead or follow a move.
  • Rotation: Additionally, you will change partners every few minutes, ensuring everyone gets to practice.

👟 What You Will Learn

  • The Basic Step: Essentially, you will move your feet forward and backward to an 8-beat rhythm.
  • Timing: Importantly, you will learn to stop on certain beats (usually beats 4 and 8).
  • Connection: Finally, you will understand how to gently push or pull your partner to demonstrate a move.

Structure and Flow of Lessons We start with a warmup and solo footwork (shines). The class begins without partners. You will practice basic timing (quick-quick-slow counts) and footwork to match the music’s rhythm.

Partner Rotation: Next, we incorporate partner rotation. Instructors will ask students to switch partners every few minutes. This helps you lead or follow different people.

Pattern Breakdown: Then, we move on to pattern breakdown. The teacher demonstrates a specific move, like an underarm turn or a cross-body lead. They explain hand signals and body cues before letting the group try it with music.

Core Principles of Salsa Now, let’s discuss the core principles of a salsa group class.

  • Timing and Rhythm: Timing and rhythm are essential. You will dance to an 8-count music structure. Step on beats 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 while pausing on 4 and 8.
  • Basic Footwork: Basic footwork is crucial. You will practice simple patterns, such as the forward/back basic, side basic, and weight changes.
  • Frame and Posture: Maintaining frame and posture is important. Keep a straight back, engaged core, and balanced body with soft arms.
  • Weight Transfer: Weight transfer is key. Shift your body weight fully onto the stepping foot to stay balanced and allow smooth hip movement.
  • Lead and Follow Technique: Lastly, the lead and follow technique is vital. Communicate direction and movement safely through gentle upper-body tension and release.
