Basic steps & timing
In a private balroom tango lesson, you can expect personalized attention. The instructor will focus on your specific needs. You’ll learn the basics or refine your skills. The pace will be tailored to you. It’s a fantastic way to build confidence. Enjoy the intimate setting and direct feedback.
- The teacher gives you one-on-one attention. You can work alone or with a partner. They focus on you, not the whole class. You don’t need a partner. The teacher will dance with you in the lesson.
- Customized focus: You choose what to work on. This includes your posture, basic walk, embrace, axis and balance, musicality, or specific figures like crosses and ochos.
- Quick Improvement: Skip the slow group classes. Start fixing small physical habits immediately. The lessons match your pace.
- You gain visual cues from your surroundings and feel sensations in your body. This allows you to lead or follow naturally without forcing your movements.
What should I bring and wear?
-
- Footwear: Clean, smooth-soled shoes or low-heeled dance shoes that allow you to pivot smoothly without sticking to the floor (avoid heavy rubber-soled sneakers).
- Attire: Stretchy, form-fitting clothes that let you move freely and allow the instructor to see your body mechanics and posture.
- Recording/Notes: Many students record the final recap of a private lesson on their phone or jot down notes to practice between sessions.
